Rummy Game Rules:
Indian Rummy is usually played with four players, each dealt 13 cards. The goal is to form valid sequences and sets with your cards and declare before your opponents to win. To win, you need to arrange your cards into two sequences:
- The First Life sequence must be pure (three consecutive cards of the same suit).
- The Second Life sequence can be pure or impure (using a joker as a wildcard). You can also create sets (three or more cards of the same rank but different suits). The key is to form these combinations and declare to reach zero points before your opponents.
Rummy Variants
Rummy, also known as Rammy in some regions and pronounced as "/ˈrəmē/", has several popular variations. Among them, Indian Rummy is the most loved, especially in the South-Asian region, with other variants like Points Rummy, Deals Rummy, Pool Rummy gaining popularity.
- Points Rummy: A quicker version where the monetary value associated with each point is preset. The player who finishes first wins the sum of points from all opponents multiplied by the point value.
- Deals Rummy: A version where the number of rounds is set at the start. The player with the least points after all the rounds wins.
- Pool Rummy: A version with a preset point limit (101/201). The last player remaining, after others have crossed the point limit, wins.
