There are four game variation available as,
Classic Belote
- Two team with 32 cards on belote.
- Team must have to fulfill their contracts by scoring more points with classic belote.
- Players bid to determine the trump suit or pass.
Belote with Meld
- Classic Belote by introducing additional scoring for card combinations (melds) declared before playing tricks.
Tierce: 3 consecutive cards of the same suit (20 points).
Quarte: 4 consecutive cards of the same suit (50 points).
Quint: 5 or more consecutive cards of the same suit (100 points).
- Four of a Kind
Jacks (200 points).
Nines (150 points).
Aces, Kings, Queens, or Tens (100 points).
Belote-Rebelote: King and Queen of trump (20 points).
Scoring: Melds are declared before the first trick and added to the team's total if the contract is fulfilled.
Coinche
- Similar to Classic Belote, but with bid points determining the contract's value.
Bidding
- Teams bid the exact number of points (e.g., 80, 100) they intend to achieve, with "Coinche" meaning to double the bid.
Doubling
- Opponents can "Coinche" the bid to double its value. The bidding team can respond with a "Surcoinche" (redouble), quadrupling the value.
No-Trump or All-Trump Bids
- Players can bid for games without a trump suit or games where all suits act as trump.
Scoring
- Failing to meet the contract results in all points going to the opposing team, and the doubled (or redoubled) bid value is applied.
Contrée
- Similar to Coinche, but with slight rule differences, often considered a blend of strategy and simpler mechanics.
Bidding
- Players bid the number of points they expect to achieve. The bidding can be contested, and opponents can double the bid by calling "Contrée." The declaring team can redouble with a "Surcontrée."
Gameplay
- The bidding phase emphasizes strategy, as contracts determine the trump suit and the goal for the round.
No melds or combinations are declared before tricks.
Scoring
- Points are calculated based on tricks won and the contract's success.
Doubles and redoubles are applied to the final score.

Declarations are particular sets of cards held in players' hands, which give players extra points. There are three sorts of declarations:
4 cards of the same rank, called "carré" in French, or "square"
4 jacks: 200 points
4 nines: 150 points
4 Aces, tens, Ks, Qs: 100 points
4 eights and 4 sevens are not counted.
Sequences from 3 to 5 cards of the same suit. There is yet another ranking of cards for sequences, by descending order: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7
3 cards: 20 points
4 cards: 50 points
5 cards: 100 points
Sequences longer than 5 cards are declared and counted as any of the 5-card sequences which they include.
Belote and Re belote are the trump King and Queen held together in one player's hand, and are counted 20 points.
